Remember those three items. They hold the secret to your brain health.
Have you suffered embarrassment over forgetting a name or event? Are you frustrated by losing your keys on a regular basis? Do you worry that this is a sign of Alzheimer’s?
Do you wonder if there is anything you can do about it? Have you been told “well, it’s just your age?”
What if I told you that memory problems and dementia are preventable problems? The “Silver Tusnami” of Alzheimer’s disease predicted for the boomer generation doesn’t have to happen!
Remember the three things I told you in the beginning?
Cupcakes: They’re so cute, multicolored and decorated sitting on a plate. They’re cute, but they are poison for your brain. The wheat flour they are made from and the sugary frostings harm your memory and increase your risk for serious memory problems later in life. Your “senior moments” may not be senior at all. They might be “sugar moments.”
Pillows: Poor sleep may be robbing you of optimal brain function. Insomnia is epidemic in the United States. Sleep deprivation affects hundreds of genes and can impact the brain causing brain fog, memory loss, depression and confusion.
Sneakers: Exercise keeps your brain from shrinking with age and increases your most brain-nourishing compound, BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor). This means growing more new brain cells. Nothing could be more important.
